The Best Day Ever

Just a little over seven months ago, the love of my life and I celebrated becoming husband and wife. Without a doubt, it was the happiest day of my life as of yet! I feel blessed being able to look back at these beautiful photos and even more grateful that I get to spend the rest of my life with the loveliest man.

Yesterday, one of my go-to wedding blogs when we were planning the wedding, Ruffled, featured our rustic farm wedding! I thought I'd share some of our favourite shots that you may have not seen yet!
{This has to be one of my favourite shots. What a handsome fella.}
{Our wedding party sure knew how to make us laugh.}
{One of the many signs I calligraphed with paint.}
{Best looking groom & groomsmen!}
{Yup. That's my husband!}
{Garrett and I designed the patterns and sewed all of the polka-dotted bow ties!}
{The ceremony programs I designed also doubled as fans for the guests.}
{Hello lovely bridesmaids!}
{I've always loved Grace Kelly's dress from that scene in To Catch A Thief and knew that my wedding dress would be like it.}
{So much labour of love went into these paper flower bouquets! Garrett gets credit for adding the "crinkled" effect in each flower - so crafty!}
{The most amazing dinner. I wish we could have this every night!}
{The farm owner's pup was getting a little taste of the dinner too!}
{I feel like this would be one of those photos we'll try and recreate after 50 years of marriage!}
{The happiest ending to the day, but also so ecstatic to be living life together from that day on as husband and wife!}

For more photos, check out our feature on Ruffled blog! Thank you Sarah & Graeme for capturing our love!

Happily Married

{photo by The Nickersons}

Hello lovelies! It's a cool crisp morning and from what I can see, the fog is slowly clearing. It's hard to believe that nearly one month ago was our big day. I still remember waking up with a big smile even if I could hear the rain drops outside the nearby window. But as you can see from the photo above, the skies cleared, and God gave us the most gorgeous weather!

Things are slowly transitioning into place over here, as I'm moved in with my now husband (eee!) and making the apartment a little cozier. We are so excited to see the rest of our photos, but this will have to do for now. Soon, I will be sharing some photos from our honeymoon as well! Oh how we miss the warm weather...

This weekend, we have plans to go to a pumpkin patch, and perhaps do some marathon baking... what will your weekend consist of?

Happy Friday!

Little Bit of Details

Planning a wedding isn't always fun and glamorous. There were mornings I'd wake up mortified that somethings are going to go wrong. Not even kidding! But mornings like this when the sun is beaming down on all the projects that both Garrett and I have worked so hard on, makes it totally worth it. One week, you guys!

Hope you liked some of these sneak peeks! If you'd like to see more, follow me on Instagram at ohthesweetthings!

Have a fabulous Friday!

Monday Picks: Time To Relax

Last weekend a few of my girlfriends threw a surprise (by surprise, I mean, I was convinced I wasn't going to have one) bachelorette party for me! I had so much fun taking a break from "wedding" related things, and just being with my girlfriends! I figured, this post would help me wind down and relax as there's only less than two weeks to go until the big day!

Ps. You may be wondering why the sequinned heart pin? Consider it a gold star for myself for accomplishing so much within the last few months!

Have a great week!

Monday Picks: Groomsmen Gift Ideas

I thought it was going to be a challenge picking out gift ideas for groomsmen. I was wrong. Men are so much easier to shop for! There are tons of products out there that are great quality that come with excellent design too. Your groom's men don't have to be adventurous to like these items! I mean, how cool is that bike flask?

One Month From Today

{photo by The Nickersons}

One month from today, I'll be marrying the man that God has lead me to love. I've been so blessed to have encountered him almost five years ago. I can't wait to be surrounded by family and friends on our big day as we become husband and wife!

Berry Picking

A couple weekends ago, most of our wedding party were able to gather together and pick some berries!  It was fun showing them the wedding venue, and it was even more beautiful than the last time Garrett and I saw it in the spring. We thought it would be a great idea to make jam for our wedding favours, as North Arm Farm grows a good selection of berries. We're so grateful to have such a fun wedding party who's just as excited as we are!

If you haven't done so, check out our wedding website and read more about our wedding party here! Aren't they so good looking? *wink* (I love all of you!)

Grateful

Boy did that week ever go by quickly! Garrett and I have definitely been working hard on the wedding projects, though I have to say I'm quite impressed with all the crafty work he's done over the past few weeks! We have a lot of great surprises up our sleeve and we seriously cannot wait any longer until our special day comes! I also just wanted to share a few things I've been super grateful for this week:
  • I got to put on my dress (yes, my wedding dress!) for the first time! I found the perfect accessories for it too from the prettiest bridal shop in town, The White Peony. Seriously, even if you're not a bride-to-be, you need to pop in and take a peek!
  • We found this lovely and secluded beach (pictured above) on a morning walk before brunch.
  • Got to hang out with Garrett's grandparents who were visiting for the week - I feel so blessed to know that they will soon be my family too.
  • Though it makes me super jealous that my sister is in Paris, I'm so excited for her and I know that she's having a pain au chocolat for me right now.
  • Garrett and I made dinner one night and took it to the marina; we had it all in a picnic basket, laid out on a floral blanket under a giant tree and watched the leaves' shadows shimmer in the breeze as the sun was setting.
I challenge you to take the time to just pause and truly appreciate little moments like these. I hope it will make your weekend lovelier than ever!

Happy Monday

{this photo was taken by The Nickersons}

Hello Monday. You arrived too soon. What a whirlwind of a weekend!

So many exciting things happened! To sum it up... I met a great new friend for brunch, had a first fitting for my wedding dress, went to our first pre-marital counselling meeting, hosted our engagement party, attended a friend's wedding and also said goodbye to my fiance as he left for work on the island (it was so nice having him here for a couple weeks for work)!

As I'm writing this, I'm dreading what Monday will be like, but I can't help but also feel super excited to finally launch our wedding blog! Yes! That's right! There you can read about our story on how we met, and find other info like where we'll have our ceremony and reception. We are also very excited to mention that you can find our wedding registry on there!

Here's to a happy Monday everyone!

More than just maids

Happy Friday everyone! Today I'm sharing how I asked my dearest friends to be my bridesmaids!

I feel like I have learned a lot during the process of selecting my bridesmaids. I've always sort of had a good idea of who they would be, but didn't come to realize that there is so much more to it than the superficial things. I had talked through it with Garrett and he also helped me become aware of the sacrifices, time and effort that these ladies will have to go through! It isn't just about looking good in photographs or simply holding bouquets of flowers. So we went for brunch and I casually showed them a mini instax photo of me holding up the card that said "Will you be my bridesmaid?" - obviously they said yes! Since Maddie couldn't make it to brunch, I met up with her later that day for tea and did the same thing! It was fun to see their expressions and I am so grateful to have these dearest friends of mine to stand next to me on my wedding day!

Meet the lovely ladies:

Jacqueline, aka, Jackie.

  • She knows every single line to the movie, A Walk to Remember. Oh and so that makes it her favourite movie of all time.
  • She's my younger sister, so duh, she's my maid of honour. Ha! No seriously, I was sure she would be my maid of honor years ago and wouldn't have it any other way.
  • She already has multiple sets of Excel spreadsheets for our wedding planning - so organized!

Chantelle, aka, Chantelley.
  • Back in elementary school, I knew we'd be friends when I found out she also likes colouring within the lines (isn't that the purpose of colouring books?!). She's one to order yogurt and granola for brunch - ha, just kidding Chantelley!
  • Been friends with her for about ten years now - wow!
  • She likes to keep cute things like tags from clothes, and cards I've made her over the years.

Jenya, aka, Jen.
  • Only in her household have I ever heard of "Orange juice is for breakfast only" rule - but I like it, and might have to use it for the future family!
  • Been friends with her for about ten years also!
  • She always had the best birthday parties growing up! Mmm confetti angel food cake... Pretty much anything she bakes is the best - super excited to have her baked goods at my wedding!

Madeline, aka, Maddie.
  • She loves cooking so much, if she could stay in the kitchen to cook all day everyday she would!
  • Been friends with her for less than a year but have connected through so many subjects.
  • She has such a kind heart and is always willing to pray for anyone at any time.
I am so excited to have these ladies with me throughout the whole wedding planning process. Sure, things can get stressful, but I know that I'll get all the support and love I'll need from these ladies who have such willing hearts to help!

Ps. These ladies (and my mother) went dress shopping with me this weekend! So fun!!
