Photo Favourites

Well hello there! It's only been two weeks since I last blogged, but feels like ages ago now! So much has happened within the last couple weeks, it was nice having a little break but it also feels great to be back.

Here are some photos that my lovely husband took from this week before we went back to our regular work routine. We enjoyed a breakfast picnic (where we packed way too much food - but is there such a thing?) on a grassy hill by Gonzales Beach, watched some of the kite festival on Dallas Road and then he took me out to Ogden Point for the first time. It was a beautiful day.

Ps. Stay tuned next week for photos from our trip!

Have you got any plans for the weekend?

 {my dear husband and I went out for an ice cream date night to celebrate seven sweet months of marriage}
 {a bunch of dried babies breath basking in the sun}
{stopped by green stems to pick up flowers before meeting up with the lovely Gillian Stevens}
{I wouldn't mind living in one of these please. arched doors? please and thank you.}
{just a little reminder that it's Friday and you're awesome!}

What a week this has been! Last weekend we got to witness a couple of our best friends tie the knot and it was a beautiful thing. (Perry and Jodi, you two are perfect for each other. We love you!)

I also got to meet up with the ever so talented Gillian Stevens to work on a project together - keep in touch to see what we were up to!

Today, I've got a huge list of things to do, but I'm more than happy to do them because we're having a couple friends over for the weekend!

Ta ta for now, have a lovely weekend!

PS. Don't forget to grab these before it's too late!

The first time Garrett brought me to Victoria, I instantly fell in love with its charm and beauty. This past week, I think I felt an even deeper love with this city. The weather has been unexpectedly warm so we took great advantage of it by going for walks around town after dinner. Everywhere you look there are heritage buildings that hold so much story and mystery. It's fascinating really.

Perhaps you may not have the same luxury of being around some of the most beautiful architecture, but I hope this inspires you to shift your focus a little bit. To tuck away your phone that keeps you from  looking up and seeing the beauty you're surrounded by.

We're off to a couple of our best friends' wedding this weekend and we're so excited to experience so much joy with them! Have a wonderful weekend!

{out by Oak Bay Marina, enjoying the sun}
{a local ice cream parlour in Cowichan Bay}
{some of the pastel coloured buildings in Coombs}
{details of fragrant tulips from friends}
{finished this hilarious book earlier this week - I highly recommend it!}

There's been a few of these photos laying around and I'm glad I can share them with you today. Can you believe it's the weekend again already (but who's complaining?)! I'll be off to Seattle with my family this weekend - whom I haven't seen for months so I'm really looking forward to it!

Photo Favourites

{my love and his well worn chucks}
{picnic dinner on the beach was such a treat}
{a sneak peek of an upcoming recipe post for next week}
{fragrant babies breath from the lovely Rook & Rose}
{wearing these floral printed pants today!}

In all honesty, this week has been pretty stressful. There were certain things that came up, or some things just didn't work in my favour. BUT, it's Friday, and guess what. My favourite bakery is open again from being closed for a month due to renovations! That means I get to look forward to an amazing Saturday croissant tomorrow! Plus we finally got a bistro set for the balcony. It's supposed to get up to 15 degrees this weekend, so that means croissants on a sunny patio.

What are you guys looking forward to this weekend?

Photo Favourites

{it gets darker way later nowadays so late afternoons call for sitting on rocks by the water}
{come on little buds, bloom!}
{one evening we got McDonald's soft ice cream (don't judge) and watched the sunset here}
{mini eggs in tea cups are way better. with a side of Darling of course}
{finally caved in and so darn in love with my Catbird dainty rings}

Doing a little happy dance over here, because it's Friday! And it's sunny!

Fun things we did this week:
  • Go to the hospital because my husband hurt his knee playing hockey (he's okay, thankfully.)
  • Watched The Grand Budapest Hotel and loved it. We always feel so rebellious sneaking in candy that's not from the theater... Also, Wes Anderson is amazing.
  • I asked if we could go to McDonald's and get ice cream... oooops! Let's just say I dislike McDonald's and the only thing I'll have there is their ice cream!
  • Being so inventive in the kitchen with salad dinners. Shredded zucchini, you guys. You can turn it into a pasta or a really good base for a salad - mind blown.
  • Went to Home Depot and realized I need to go in there more often. Coolest place. Plus, we watched this comedy beforehand. Hilarious.
This weekend, I'm helping out a friend do a massive clean out of her closet. I'm a sucker for organizing so, yes, these are the types of things I look forward to. I might also make another batch of zucchini chocolate chip muffins - can you tell I'm having a zucchini obsession?

Photo Favourites

{an insane view of sandcut beach - more photos coming soon}
{isn't nature so crazy cool}
{this wonderful tea has been so good with my stuffiness/sickness in the last few days}
{this scarf. on repeat. since I purchased it}
{oh darling. you know how to inspire a woman to feel empowered}

Ever since we got back from our weekend trip, it's like I've been attacked with allergies/sickness. Normally, I never have any reactions to the seasons changing, but this year has been so bad! It feels like my poor nose is going to fall off from all the sneezing. The week also felt like it took forever. So glad Friday is here! I've been drinking lots of orange juice, lemon and honey tea - anything to remedy this hump. No big plans this weekend, but we might clean up our balcony (finally!) and maybe start planting a little garden! Otherwise, lots of sleeping and relaxing is much needed for this lady here.

Photo Favourites

{there was a plant sale and I couldn't help myself to a new succulent}
{slowly but surely adding photos in frames and styling then in little vignettes}
{we finally added a shelf above our couch! for more vignettes obviously}
{basking in some late afternoon sunlight - so in love with this project}
{pulled out this number from the drawers and remembered how much I love the details on it
- plus it was from my grandmother's closet}

Hello again! This week went by relatively fast - hope yours did too. Our week involved a lot of listening to new music that we'll be seeing at a festival this summer. We'll be going to a couple but one of them hasn't released a line-up yet...

On that note, we bought a tent! My other half was so excited about it, we set it up in our living room! It was actually really fun! It ended up being a Wes Anderson movie night too!

I'm not one to be called the "outdoorsy" type, but I do love a good adventure. This weekend, we'll be going up the island - no phones, no internet - oh boy it's going to be fun!

Photo Favourites

{reliving our best day ever through these pages - The Nickersons, you were beyond amazing}
{these "power cookies" are Garrett's new favourite treats}
{working on something special with my friend Sarah}
{loving the morning light that fills our bedroom}
{a little thank you note for the ever so sweet Tara Hurst}

I love putting up a series of photos every Friday! It puts me in such a good mood, and it makes me reflect back on the little things from the week. I look at each of these photos and they make me smile thinking about the happiness and joy they bring in life.

*Fingers crossed* the weather stays nice (and hopefully warmer) for a little hike or a walk down the beach this weekend!

Photo Favourites

{a great morning read}

{so ready to spring forward this weekend}

{my illustration work waiting patiently to be hung up}

{brought the outdoors in with cherry blossoms}

{have you downloaded this wallpaper yet?}

It sure feels like spring at home this week. Flowers, rain, comfort food, sleep and repeat. Maybe not quite exactly, but comfort food... Garrett made me a macaroni and cheese casserole and it was exactly what I needed on a Monday night.

In other news, my husband just found out yesterday that he passed his big exam to get his trades certification to become a journeyman lineman! He was so relieved but I was confident he got it! I think this calls for a celebration, aka a big batch of chocolate chip cookies to feast upon.

Have a great weekend everyone!
