07/12 Monthly Snaps

Goodbye July, and hello August! Or should I say hello to month of crazy wedding projects! To be quite fair, I feel like I repeat myself when I say "last month went by so fast"! But it's true. Where did that month go? It sure feels good to know what we were able to accomplish though!

  • A little preview of our invitations! Every single one was handwritten with love and I can only hope that our guests appreciate all the hard work we put in to them.
  • On Canada day, we spent the afternoon laying on the beach with a picnic. It was wonderful.
  • Most of our wedding party were able to gather and pick berries at the farm. I got the chills again once we drove in to town and saw the mountains that will act as a backdrop for our ceremony.
  • The next time we ride the ferry back to the island, we'll be a married couple! I can't wait!

Now to cross things off the list one by one, day by day... Only one month to go until the big day!

06/12 Monthly Snaps

I'm so glad I've decided to do these monthly snaps; it's a time for me to look back on the month and appreciate so many little things. I've been to Victoria for a month now and am absolutely loving it. During this month, I finished up our wedding invites (which we're so excited to send out), we've enjoyed being creative in cooking healthier, and spent weekends adventuring around our new city! Oh and there's less than 70 days left until the wedding!

  • We went on a day trip out to Nanaimo and took a detour to see the Kinsol Trestle - more photos here
  • It made me so happy to see Garrett excited about his new bike - isn't that color awesome?!
  • Out on a hike together around Mt. Doug - the peak had a gorgeous 360 view!
  • Relaxed under the sun (during the unexpected heat wave) and a mandatory picnic of course during Canada Day

05/12 Monthly Snaps

May flew by like no other! But before I start, I'd like to say "Happy Birthday to me"! Yup. It's my birthday today! I have no big plans really, but I get to spend it with my family and Garrett is also taking the ferry over to the city. Yahoo! I'm secretly hoping he'll have some peonies for me...

Like I've expressed quite a bit on this last post, I feel as if May is always a time for new beginnings to me. I'm moving to Victoria and am SO excited for this new exciting chapter! I am also very sad to be leaving lots of people whom I've gotten close with. I'll miss my work family at Anthropologie and church friends at City Lights. I do believe that the main man up there is my provider and I have nothing to fear. This verse from Proverbs 31:25 has stuck with me: "Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.".

I'd like to say I finished packing but you know how it is... better get on the last little things to wrap up!

  • We had mint chocolate chip (with m&m's on waffle bowls) ice cream at Trout lake to celebrate my last Sunday with City Lights Church.
  • Oh Anthro... best last day a girl could ask for! There were balloons, pizza, and chocolate. Um, yum.
  • Garrett and I both love the smell of fresh lilac so we picked it off a stranger's bush... shhh!
  • An eight hour layover wasn't so bad at the Taipei airport - they had greenery on walls!

04/12 Monthly Snaps

April was a good mix of highs and lows. We received a lot of things in the mail which was very exciting. We were especially psyched to have received our first "wedding gift" of pots and pans that we purchased at a great deal as we both love to cook. We got our engagement photos from the lovely Nickersons (which are stunning, thank you). And we were able to send out our save the dates too! I can honestly say that I hit some lows as I was personally hand-writing addresses and names on the envelopes. Garrett works out on the island so he couldn't be here with me to help with most of it. I got all emotional when he was on a computer screen instead of next to me sticking on postage stamps. I may or may not have cried over some stupid envelopes. At the end of the day, I just needed a reminder that I will be marrying my best-friend. Marriage is about two people joining as one to portray God's grace towards others. It certainly isn't about the smallest design details.

So if you needed a reminder today, pause, and appreciate the little things in life.

  • I took my little brother out to The Regional Assembly of Text on Main to use their typewriters. We went thrift shopping after that too, and I had found some gems.
  • This verse is so beautiful. "Do not let your adorning be external -  the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear - but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious."
  • My mother got me these oxfords and I love them. I don't ever want them to fall apart.
  • Garrett and I checked out our wedding venue for the first time (we booked it only after seeing photos from Pinterest!) and it was breathtaking. We look forward to seeing it again once summer hits.

03/12 Monthly Snaps

March was packed! I had every Saturday off and each one was packed with goodness. I'm flipping through my moleskine as I'm typing this and I can't believe that so much had happened in one little month. We met with our photographers for the first time, went wedding dress shopping, had our engagement photos, hosted our engagement party, ordered my wedding dress, finalized our wedding menu, hosted an Easter brunch, and witnessed my fiance get baptized.

Whew! This monthly series makes me realize how productive one can be! Can you tell I was fond of the sky throughout the month? Vancouver has been beautiful these last couple of weeks - spring has arrived people!

  • Talk about the most beautiful view ever! We couldn't have asked for a better sunset on our engagement party night.
  • This photo was taken on the last day of the month. We laid out the picnic blanket and soaked in the sun!
  • We surprised a friend of mine from the church with an early morning (almost too early but so worth it) brunch for her birthday! Of course I brought the baguette, croissants and butter.
  • This was on our drive to 'the location' of our engagement photos. Seriously can't wait any longer to see how they turned out!

02/12 Monthly Snaps

February. They say it's the month of love but really, I think everyday should be about love. On the 9th of February, I said "yes" to the man that has shown me what it's like to truly love someone. He has taught me to love him and others even more because of the way he's loved me (even if I am the most impatient person at times). This Bible verse has really stuck with me this month:

"We love because He first loved us." 1 John 4:19

I look forward to marrying Garrett and being his wife because I know that God has brought us together and that's something so profound to both of us!

  • This was one of the first photos I took while on the sail boat date ride - I thought it was cool to see the market from the water!
  • We went on an IKEA trip with a friend Brittany (Hi Brit!) who's always eager and is fun  to serve the church with.
  • A cute little card from Sarah of GirlCrush blog (also, she drew a moustache + glasses = heart on the envelope), she is too darn cute.
  • I made handwritten cards for my bridesmaids! Yes, I asked them by showing this mini instax photo (a separate post is coming with more details on that)!

01/12 Monthly Snaps

Here is the first of twelve series I will be starting on this blog! I'll be choosing four photos that sum up that month. January was full of goodness. This blog came to life (again), and I'm continued to be creatively challenged with it in the best of ways. I can't wait to see what this will look like at the end of the year!

  • 1 Peter 4:8 "Above all things, have intense and unfailing love for one another" written on my DIY Chalkboard Plaques
  • On the steps of the Parliament building in Victoria (I may have cheated a little as this was taken back in December last year). I simply adore this photo taken by my love on our day trip there.
  • Foggy morning walks in this city. There's nothing more myst-erious... I had to!
  • Unexpected rays of sunlight through the window blinds
